Los Angeles-based ~75kg powerlifter Molly Mullikin is not messing around. In a workout at Long Island’s Metroflex Gym that would put a lot of recreational lifters to shame, Molly just completed two sets of six deadlifts at 430 pounds. Take a look at her Instagram post below.
This isn’t Molly’s all-time best lifting session; this year she’s hoping to soar past the 500-pound threshold to beat her previous record, 530 pounds at 160 pounds bodyweight.
Most recently, Molly won the won the 165lb/75kg class and best lifter at the American Cup Pro Powerlifting Invitational at the LA Fit Expo this January. She said she was disappointed in her deadlift performance, but she nailed an impressive 424lb squat at 162lb, and she walked away from the competition with a 1,113lb total, which is a record for her without wraps. (With wraps, her raw total record is 1,179lb.)
Molly may not be one of the best known powerlifters, but her Instagram is definitely worth following – her very irreverent sense of humor will spice up your feed, and she’s usually more than willing to deliver entertaining verbal beatdowns to her trolls. She also posts a lot of discount codes for Feed Me Fight Me, a veteran-owned apparel company that donates a portion of their profits to veteran aid. (Plus the clothing has a serious emphasis on donut motifs.)
We’ve been seeing a lot of excellent performances from female powerlifters over the last couple of weeks, the most widely circulated of which is almost certainly Jennifer Thompsons’s astounding 325-pound bench press at ~63kg. (Since then, she set a new IPF World Record in the bench.)
Molly is planning for her next competition to be at the women’s SPF Pro/Am on April 23rd in Cincinatti, Ohio. We wish her the best of luck!
